Colin O’Reilly, C&S UCC Demons Coach

With Killester fighting to defend their title they were always going to come to Cork with a good game plan and great energy. The first half was very stop-start with a lot of whistles from the three refs. Neither team could find a rhythm and as a result the game was lost as a spectacle and was played at a very slow pace which does not suit either side. In the second half we changed up our defence to limit the whistles and help create a bit of flow about our play. We were able to force numerous turnovers and tidied up our boards which led to transition baskets. Mentally we had a few lapses throughout but as a whole we are very pleased with the result and performance. We had players put their body on the line for the good of the team. It’s a great sign after the joy of winning the cup that the team grinder out a tough win that sets up a huge game against Thunder next Saturday.
