It’s a busy time of the year for Blue Demons Juvenile Boys teams with championships, tournaments and leagues in full swing. On Saturday last, our U15’s played in the annual John Coughlan Tournament in the Parochial Hall in what turned out to be a very strong tournament. Our lads played St Brendan’s in their first pool game but struggled and lost to a strong team. Coached by Brian and Tony Foley, our lads refocused for the second pool game and put in a much better performance to beat Moycullen of Galway by 10 points. Onto the quarter finals then against St Vincent’s of Dublin, our lads started very well and took the lead after a few minutes to lead 11-9 end of the first. Scoring continued in the 2nd quarter to lead 21-15. In the 3rd quarter, the game swung in Vincent’s favour as our scoring dried up and were 28-24 down end of the 3rd. Despite pushing hard, our lads couldn’t recover in the 4th to lose 38-30. Thanks to Brian and Tony for preparing the team in the last few weeks.

Our U13’s had a tough loss on Friday in a top of the table clash against Ballincollig losing out 33-43 after a very tough battle where both teams played a high standard of basketball.

On Sunday (15-Jan), Limerick Celtics were our visitors with 3 encounters in the U10, U11 & U12. Our U10 & U11 boys teams continued to show progress as they played some nice basketball in the non-competitive leagues. Our U12’s coached by Brian Horgan and Troy O’Mahony had to battle hard in the 4th quarter as they came from 6 points down to edge out Celtics in a very tightly contested battle. They will renew rivalries this Friday night(20-Jan) in the U12 Championship final in what should be an epic battle.

Our U16A team are also in championship final action this week as they play on Tuesday night (17th Jan) @ 6:30pm in the Parochial Hall.

Last but not least, our U9’s are back in action this coming Saturday (21st Jan) in the Parochial Hall as some of these lads will play their first games in a Blue Demons jersey! All the best lads!
