It’s been a busy few weeks for Demons juveniles as we look to close out the season in the next few weeks.
Our U16A’s coached by Brian and Tony Foley collected their league winning trophy last night in the Parochial Hall after a tough but successful campaign. They also played in the Top 4 final last night where they made a great comeback to come from 17 points down at one stage against Matthews to tie the game and get the game to overtime. However, our lads ran out of steam in overtime but it was a great effort. Next up for our U16A’s are the AICC’s being held on the weekend of the 27th & 28th in Gormanstown.
Our U14’s gave it their all to finish 6th in the AICC’s a couple of weeks back. A number of he team have also made the Cork CCB team for the inter regionals next Monday (22nd of April) in Limerick. Our U14’s will again be out on the court on Tuesday 23rd @ 6:15pm against Ballincollig in the Top 4 final.
Our U16B’s coached by Jim O’Sullivan gave it their all in their Top 4 semi final last Saturday against league winners Youghal in the Parochial Hall. They were 19 down at one point and came back to within 4 points but ran out of steam after a great team effort. Overall, our U16B’s had a great season finishing the season very strongly to make the Top 4.
Last Saturday as well, our U12’s made a great comeback against Limerick Celtics with a last second basket to win by 1 point to make the Top 4 final. The final takes place on Tuesday 23rd April @ 7:15pm in the Parochial Hall.
Our 17’s will play this coming Friday in the annual prestigious Billy Kelly Memorial Tournament in what is always a great occasion and spectacle with a huge amount of teams competing this year. Our lads have been well prepared by coaches Dave Lehane and Shane McCarthy. Our U17’s have a busy schedule of games with tip off against St Brendan’s @ 10am on Friday followed by Eanna @2pm, Dundalk Ravens @ 4pm & last pool game is Limerick Lions @ 6pm. Best of luck lads!
