Our U12’s boys advanced to the U12 CCB Championship final after a very tight and exciting game against a talented Mallow team in the Parochial Hall on Friday (12-Dec). Demons lead by 3 points at half time(22-19). The game continued score for score in the 3rd quarter with some great outside shooting from both teams with Demons only leading by 1 point (35-34) at the end of quarter. Mallow upped the intensity in the final quarter and were leading by 3 points with 1:20 to go but Demons pulled it out of the bag down the stretch to win by 3 points on a scoreline of 43-40. Credit to both teams for putting on a very exciting game of basketball that kept the attendance on full alert until the final whistle. Our U12’s will now prepare for the championship final in the New Year.
Next up on Saturday(13-Dec) are our U16 Boys who play in the U16 CCB tournament in the Parochial Hall. Demons first pool game is against Moycullen of Galway at 10am followed by Templeogue at 12pm. Our U16’s will be hoping to give a good account of themselves after a good victory away to Limerick Lakers last Sunday(73-42) and Conor Deasy and Dave Beckom’s team have prepared well this week for the tournament.
Our U14’s play their championship semi-final next Thursday night(18-Dec) @ 6:30pm against Neptune. Demons beat Neptune away a couple of weeks back in the league but Neptune avenged that defeat last Sunday when our lads just didn’t get going. But I am sure Dave Lehane’s and Dermot Looney’s troops will be up for the semi final next Thursday night.
