U12’s Do Us Proud in Belfast

Our U12 Boys team put up some very brave performances over the weekend in Belfast as they attended the 3 day  Torraine Sears Memorial Tournament which was superbly hosted by Tigers Basketball Club. Their first game on Friday night was against Sligo and our lads pulled out the win on a scoreline of 36-31. In the first game of Saturday, our lads played a Northern Ireland selection and stunned the home crowd to grind out a win with 2 late baskets to win 28-27. In the 3rd game against a much bigger and taller Manchester Giants, we were a point down at half time but Manchester stretched the lead to win 41-24 after a disappointing second half. In the fourth game, our lads beat Dublin Lions 41-30 to return to winning ways to qualify for the semi finals. In the semi final against Northern Ireland, Demons were 4 up with 2 minutes left but NI hit some baskets late on to deny our lads a final spot on a scoreline of 35-33 after a tough battle. Our lads picked themselves up to win the 3rd/4th place play off against Dublin Lions by 6 points.

Well done lads on a great weekend and a memorable season, and thank you to Jim, Brian and Carlton for looking after the boys over the weekend along with our supporters and parents who also made the long trip to Belfast. Special thanks to the Andersonstown Tigers for hosting a superb run tournament!

We hope everybody has a great Summer and we’ll hope to see you all again in late August.
