Blue Demons U13 Boys coached by Brian & Tony Foley were winners tonight (26-Jan) in the Parochial Hall after an epic battle against a talented Fr Mathews team in a packed Parochial Hall.
Our lads started slow and found themselves 11-2 down with a couple of minutes left in the first quarter but pushed hard to get the scoreline back to 11-7 at the end of the first.
Our lads came out of the blocks in the second quarter and upped the defensive intensity and managed to take a lead of 18-16 at half time after limiting Mathews to 5 points.
Demons upped the scoring tempo in the 3rd quarter and Mathews fought hard to get back into the game but a huge 3 on the buzzer had Demons leading 34-25 entering the final quarter.
It was a ding dong battle in the 4th quarter as scores were hard to come by but our lads showed great maturity, team spirit and game management down the stretch to run out winners on a scoreline of 39-34 and sparked celebrations amongst our lads.
