Our U14A boys made the long trek to Derry over the weekend but came up short in their quest to be All Ireland champions when losing in the final. Our lads put in a huge effort in the run up to this event. Our lads played Blazers in their first pool game to win easily(41-14) but came up against a strong Titans team in their final pool game but managed to get over the line by 2 points (42-40). In the semi final, Demons played a very strong Liffey Celtics team who were head and shoulders taller than our lads. Our lads started strong and lead 18-12 at the end of the first and managed to maintain their lead(25-20) up to half time.  Celtics came out very strong in the 3rd quarter and closed the gap to the smallest margin (31-30). The basketball on display in the 4th quarter was exceptional from both teams and the game went back and forth with our lads being victorious to win out on a score line of 44-43 to qualify for the All Ireland final.

In the final, our lads played our Cork neighbours Ballincollig and it was tight in the first quarter with Demons trailing by 2 points. Our lads struggled in the second quarter and found themselves 15 down at half time after a very poor quarter. Our lads failed to recover from this deficit and Ballincollig ran out winners.

Both our coaches Brian and Tony Foley and the players can be very proud of their efforts in the last few weeks with victory in the Emmett Neville tournament and coming up short in the AICC. I am sure they can make one last push to try and win the CCB Top 4 championship in the coming weeks. Thanks to everybody involved in organizing the weekend.
