Congratulations to coaches Brian and Tony Foley and our U15 team who today(7-Oct) were victorious in the Mick James Memorial Tournament held in Templeogue Dublin after a great team effort throughout the day with everyone playing their part.
Our lads played well throughout the day beating hosts Templeogue in the first game with good performances from Jack O’Leary and Colin Hannigan, knocking down plenty of buckets between them, every one played big minutes in this match with James Drummond and Emmett Roche playing well in the last quarter.
On to the second pool game against Sonics, and with a big difference in heights, but our lads played great basketball particularly Matthew McCarthy, Ryan Joyce and Colin Hannigan ,Rory and Derek Foley also chipped in with some nice moves to the hoop, running out winners by 16 to top the pool.
In the semi final against Liffey Celtics, Mark Watkins, Colin Hannigan and Emmett Roche stepped up, and our lads won by 11 with every one playing big minutes as Derek and Jack also stepping up.
In the final against the BNI Selection, Demons started very well going into an 8 point lead from the off with Colin hitting two big threes, Matthew with some deft moves to the basket, although BNI pushed hard in the second quarter Jack played some very tough defense and managed to get a few steals with Mark, Matthew and Derek hitting some nice 10 foot jumpers. Demons showed a mean streak in the 3rd and drove it on,with James and Rory getting in on the act also, with staunch defending from Emmett. James Drummond finished off an excellent spin move to score the final basket after an assist by Ryan Joyce as the final buzzer sounded to win 44-26.
Jack O’Leary team captain lifted the trophy for Demons and Matthew McCarthy also picked up the MVP of the tournament to top off a great day for our U15’s as they returned to winning ways and should prepare them for the remainder of the season. Well done to all involved!
Thanks to Templeogue and Stephen James for the invitation and organising a great day of basketball.

Our U13’s were unlucky today in the CCB Tournament. Demons topped their pool after tough wins over Corrib and Killester and won their qtr final but lost narrowly by 2 points to Sligo after a great game in the semi final. Our lads were 9 points down in the 4th quarter and reduced the deficit to 2 points with under a minute to go but just couldn’t get an equaliser after multiple attempts after giving it their all. I am sure our U13’s will come back stronger as their league campaign tips off.
