UCC Demons are on the road facing the defending Champions

Colin O’Reilly, UCC Demons Head Coach:
Facing the defending champions is always a tough game and playing them on the road makes it even tougher. Templogue have shown great consistency over the last few years and I don’t think them losing a few games to start the season changes what such a strong team they are.

We travel on the back of a solid second half display against Maree. The whole 40 minutes showed us the potential we have but also our current limitations. We are still trying to find an identity as a team with all the comings and goings between injury issues. We have yet to play or train together as a full roster so sometimes it’s a case of trying to fit square pegs into round holes. The players have adapted nicely to unfamiliar circumstances but as a group we would prefer the full roster available every night to build as the season goes on.

Saturday brings a new challenge and a step up in competition which the players will relish. Last week we had 85 points from our Irish players which shows a nice level of growth that we will continue to need moving forward. The hope is that the group carries that confidence this weekend and continues to battle for each other for the full 40 minutes and see where that gets us in the end.
