Colin O’Reilly, C&S UCC Demons Coach
Another trip to Dublin yielded another 3 points and puts us at 6-0 a third of the way into the season. UCD played us tough in the first half and had us on the ropes as Lee (Lehmon Colbert) picked up two early fouls which limited our rim protection and rebounding. However as always with this group we put our heads down and kept the score board ticking over while containing them as much as possible. The third quarter then was where we turned the screw. We put on an offensive clinic which saw us score 36 points in the quarter and end the game as a contest. It’s a tough place to play and we are grateful we got out of there alive and still undefeated.
Right now we are extremely happy with how the games have panned out. With so many road games it’s been hard for individuals to get a good rhythm going but each player has put the team first which has led to some great victories. Troy (O’Mahony) has also been a great asset to the team. His game management has been spot on and he has brought a new dimension and fresh voice to the team.
We can now park the league for a week and will prepare to start the defense of our cup title against Killester.
