Demons U12 , U14 & U20 Kick Season Off In Pre-Season Tournaments

Blue Demons juvenile section have began the season in terrific style, having won both the U12 and U14 Limerick tournaments. Stephen Hannigan U12 team played fantastic basketball to defeat Limerick Celtics 35-16 in their opening pool game. Tom Griffin, Ross O’Brien and Darragh Hession were magnificent as they excelled in both offence and defence. Things got even better for Demons in their second pool game as they came out on top against a highly talented Titans team by 22-16. The game was nip and tuck throughout but Cian O’Callaghan and Eoin Roche drained critical scores coming down the stretch to snatch the W. Demons showed their class in the final as they outplayed Celtics to run out convincing 44-17 victors. Sam Barrett, Colin Hannigan, Jack O’Leary and Liam Donovan were outstanding in the final. There is great potential in this team, the future looks bright.

Blue Demons U14 team under the expertise guidance of Dave Beckom and Troy O’Mahony also clinched the U14 title in Limerick. The tournament was based on a round robin system but Demons produced three top class displays to triumph over Maree, Moycullen and Limerick Celtics. Blake Murphy and David Lehane enhanced their growing reputation by producing several top notch displays. The inside trio of James Beckom, EJ Albino and Derek Emelifeonwu looks very exciting for the year ahead. All three players showed great skill levels on both ends of the floor. Luke O’Mahony Browne, Craig Sweeney, Eoin O’Connell and Alex McManus also impressed with their fantastic displays on defence and explosive plays on offensive. This U14 team is packed with talent, we forsee great things for this group.

UCC Demons U20 team recently competed in the U20 pre season tournament at the Parochial Hall. Willie McCarthy and Ken O’Leary’s team had little time to prepare for the tournament but they produced several first class displays to top their pool and reach the semi final stage. Wins over Ballincollig, Tolka and Titans was an exceptional achievement. Ryan Murphy and Liam Carmody led the team from the point guard positions while David Brickley, Glenn Dunlea and Dylan Olden did fantastic work closer to the rim. The entire squad contributed enormously as Demons U20 team took a massive step forward in preparation for the new season.
