It’s always very exciting to begin the first game of the season. While pre season is the foundation for everything that the team achieves, it can also be quite frustrating for players as all we want to do is get on the court and test ourselves against the rest of the league. This year’s pre season has gone to plan and we are hoping we can hit the ground running against Templogue.

The team itself has a nice familiarity about it with a lot of players returning for their third season which gives us nice continuity from year to year. The new players who have joined the squad have brought a nice freshness to the whole set up and have pushed the status quo that extra bit in training. This change has meant our average age has dropped considerably and new leaders have had to step up. Kyle (Hosford) and Ciaran (O’Sullivan) have taken on the mantle of co-captains after their commitment shown throughout the past two seasons and want to wish them the best of luck in what is a very prestigious position.

Our season opener could not of come any tougher than away game against Templogue. They are filled with international caliber players and coaches. They have loaded up with recruits to try win trophies and their experience throughout is second to none in the league. As always we feel we have the tools to compete well in this game as we will try force our style of play on proceedings. First games of the season are generally sloppy affairs so whichever team can limit their mistakes should come out on top.

As a group we look forward to representing Demons, C&S and the Demons fans on the national stage for another season.
