We are looking forward to a full house in the Mardyke.
A derby game in any sport is special and Demons versus Neptune is definitely the biggest in Irish basketball. It’s a game that takes on a life of its own regardless of how either teams form is entering it. Having played for six different teams in various derby games it’s evident that the fans get more joy out of them as sometimes the occasion can get players to over complicate the situation.
As a group we have detached ourselves from the whole rivalry and have concentrated on the fact that the 3 points we received for beating Dublin Inter is the same as the 3 points we will receive if we beat Neptune. Both teams have good experience in these games and the rosters match up pretty well so a close game is expected. For us again it’s all about tempo, regardless of how we are looking to play. We are starting to recognise a little quicker what our strengths are and utilising them a lot more which is fantastic at such an early stage of the season with a brand new roster.
Aside from the game there is a special welcome and 40 year anniversary of one of the greatest Demons teams in history. It’s a side that started the winning trend for Demons and one that every team each season is trying to emulate.
We are looking forward to a full house in the Mardyke and hopefully every fan will be treated to an entertaining game.
