Congratulations to our U16A Boys who today won the CCB U16 Invitational Tournament after a great day of basketball in the Parochial Hall. Demons started slowly in the pool and lost to Moycullen by 4 points but recovered to beat a talented Liffey Celtics in the final pool game to advance to the quarter finals on a scoreline of 58-40.

Our lads coached by the very experienced trio of Dave Lehane, D Looney & Shane Coughlan started to get into their groove in the quarter finals as they played Waterford Vikings in what proved to be a tough game with Demons leading 26-20 at half time. Demons really upped the tempo in the 3rd quarter to push out the lead to 43-27.

In the semi finals Demons played Titans of Galway in what again proved to be a tight game. Demons led by 4 at half time but pushed on again in the 3rd & 4th quarters to qualify for the final.

Prior to the final, a minutes silence was observed by all for the Parochial Hall Patron Eddie O’Brien who sadly passed away last night, Eddie has been a great servant to both Demons and to Cork & Irish Basketball through his great work with the Parochial Hall. Our sympathies are with his family and friends on their loss.

In the final, Demons again played Moycullen but our lads were up for it from the get go and scoring tempo was good as Demons lead 28-16 at half time. Demons managed to push the lead out to 16 in the 3rd quarter but Moycullen came back to reduce the lead to 12 again (40-28) at the end of the 3rd.

Demons managed to keep the energy levels going in the 4th quarter and ran out deserved winners on a scoreline of 51-44 after a great day in the Parochial Hall.

Well done to the Players & Coaches and to all who turned out to support the team today!
