UCC Demons are delighted to announce 24 year old Andre Kennedy as their latest signing as the team continues its preparation in anticipation of the clubs return to Senior National League Basketball this season.
Kennedy a former Alabama A&M Bulldog’s Class of 2019 is from Albany Georgia, Andre enjoyed a brief spell with Kordall Steelers in Luxembourg after graduating in Sports Management at Alabama A&M before a Covid hit season saw him return to the US in 2020. During his Senior year he was runner up as conference player of the year.
Head Coach Daniel O’Mahony along with his assistant coaches Kyle Hosford and Stuart Rodgers were delighted to secure their first-choice recruit earlier in this Summer with the announcement delayed as he waited for confirmation of a return to play post Covid.
Coach Daniel O’Mahony was appointed to Coach the U20 Squad in 2019 with a single vision to rebuild a team to return to senior level and this has achieved that in just 2 seasons, 1 Competitive , 1 Cancelled (Covid)
Andre Kennedy will complete the roster for this season which is based around UCC Demons successful U20 squad which included David Lehane, Tala Fam Thiam, Seamus Kearney, Cian Looney, Blake Murphy, Kevin Moynihan and Craig Sweeney and a return of some familiar Demons faces including Senior Irish International Kyle Hosford. Ryan Murphy, Conor Ryan and Carlton Cuff (who may yet be side-lined for the season.) The Squad also includes Under 18 Irish international Jack O Leary along with current under 20’s Mathew McCarthy & Jordan Ukah. The team completed by Serbian born Canadian Stevan Manojlovic a UCC Law Student completes the line up.
UCC Demons will open their regular season program vs Killarney Cougars Away on October 9th.

“Andre was selected with this team and this league in mind, his versatility, ability to create his own scores and bring his teammates into play with help this team which has a great mix of youth and experience. Andre’s acceptance that this was very much a rebuilding program and that the glorious recent history of the team whilst acknowledged was not an influencing factor in his decision. His willingness to learn and hopefully develop as a player and a person in this new experience for him.”
