Tim O’Halloran, UCC Demons Head Coach:
First off I would like to thank, all the Demons and Tralee fans for the massive turnout. It was great to see a jam packed Mardyke on the first night of the season.
Going into the unknown in our first game, against a new team to the league, I taught we done better as the game went on, especially on the defensive end in the third quarter. We gave up way to many open looks in the first half and had a lot of rusty turnovers. Credit must go to Tralee as they continually knocked down open looks. Tralee will be a tough out for every team in the league this year. We have set our stall out to be a defensive force this year and we will be better every game in this department. Everyone who played made a contribution and I taught our bench gave us massive minutes, with 35 points. Ciaran (O’Sullivan) was knocking down shots and Kyle (Hosford) started to get his legs under him in the second half and took the game to Tralee. Jacob (Lawson) was as aggressive, as we want him to be ,in the first half and we will look for him to bring this for 40 minutes every game. We travel to Marian this Saturday with Niall Murphy the only injury doubt.
