C&S UCC Demons Assistant Coach Troy O Mahony
“As we reach the halfway stage of the season we have achieved a lot but an awful lot still to do to reach our goals, We have had a good start to the season to date and that is all down to the big effort put in at pre season by each player since last July which set us up nicely for the first 3 months of the season. With 7 of last year’s team returning we also have Carlton Cuff, Niall Murphy and Shane Duggan re-joining the squad along with Darragh O Hanlon playing his first year at premier league level and it was always going to take time for these players to buy into Colin’s style of Basketball but with each game we are getting there and we are improving with every game. Colin is a great head coach to work under and brings a lot of professionalism to the club from his time playing professionally in England & Europe, it is his attention to detail and work ethic in training and games that has every other player raising their standard and pushing each other for minutes on a weekly basis. Each week we have different players stepping up and that will only help the team as we enter the business end of the season, another big plus for the team was the return of Lehmon Colbert and his unselfish style of Basketball is really suiting the team this season.
As we head into the second half of the season this is where the hard work gets even harder as we know from last season it only takes one/ two games to lose which can be the difference in stopping you achieving your goals. The team are working as hard as ever and have put in a big effort over the Christmas period as the next 5/6 weeks will have a big say on the final shape of our season but as ever we will prepare for each game one at a time. Thank you to our supporters who come out and get behind the team each week and hopefully with a bit of luck we will give you something to smile about in 2015.
Happy New Year and see you all in the Mardyke on Friday 2nd January @ 8pm for our game against Neptune.”
