This past weekend\u00a0the legendary Seanie Murphy was inducted into the Basketball Ireland Coaching Hall of Fame in Galway. Seanie currently runs our Academy programme\u00a0but has been involved in the game of basketball since the mid 1950’s. He has played and coached at the highest level both nationally and internationally with the Blue Demons Club and Ireland.
\nHis coaching achievements with\u00a0the club are legendary having won the Men\u2019s Premier League in 1984, he then went on to developing\u00a0our next crop of Demons players and has been to the forefront in developing many of the present all conquering C&S UCC Demons team.
\nAny Sunday morning you can watch him at the Demons Academy working with players from age five to eight. He will run special sessions for individuals and teams to help them improve both as players and as a team. The proof of his coaching ability is the record of UCC Demons having won 12 national trophies since 2002.<\/p>\n
Seanie Career Highlights:
\n1983: Coached the Irish Senior Men\u2019s team in the Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament
\n1982-1983: Coached Blue Demons to victory over Neptune in the \u2018Basketball Classic\u2019 in the RDS and captured the National League Title
\n1984: Coached Blue Demons BC to Men\u2019s Premier League
\n1984: Coached the Irish Senior Men\u2019s team to a historic victory over Holy Cross in the US
