Blue Demons Boys U13 team today created history when they were the first Demons team in 10 years to win the CCB U13 Tournament in the Parochial Hall after a long day of competition. Under the coaching of the Foley duo, Brian and Tony, Demons opened the tournament with a win over Ballincollig(34-18). This team then lost in the second pool game to a talented Galway Titans outfit after a tough battle(36-41). Our lads responded very well to that defeat to dispose of Mallow 41-32 in their final pool game to qualify for the semi finals after a pressure game.
\nDemons played Sligo in the semi final. Demons started well and lead 19-8 at half time after tough defense. Demons continued to up the tempo after some superb passing from Colin Hannigan and continued to push on to win 37-22.
\nDemons opponents in the final were Fr Mathews who started well and lead 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. Demons second quarter five upped the defensive pressure and took the lead to be up 26-20 at half time after some very good team basketball.
\nIn the 3rd quarter, Demons struggled for the first few minutes but managed to get some scores in the final couple of minutes to push out the lead to 35-27. Our lads continued the defensive pressure and ran out winners on a scoreline of 50-36.
